HEBRON -- Theodore "Ted" H. Neidhardt, 93, Hebron, died Jan. 6, 2003, at a Dickinson hospital. Services will be held at 1 p.m. MST Saturday at St. John Church, Hebron, with the Rev. Edwin Zuern officiating. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery.

Theodore Henry Neidhardt, son of Jacob and Mary (Ding) Neidhardt, was born Dec. 9, 1909, at Hebron. He grew up and was educated in Hebron, with additional education at the North Dakota Agricultural College in Fargo.
Ted was united in marriage with Bertha Kopp on Oct. 17, 1936. They raised their two children, Marjorie and Marlin, on the family farm west of Hebron, until Bertha's illness caused them to move to California. Upon Bertha's death, Ted and his children moved back to the family farm at Hebron. He met Elaine Tetly and her two daughters, Shirley and Sharon of Medora. They were married on May 27, 1950. Ted and Elaine had two more children, Robert and Sandra.
Ted's passion in life was always livestock, mainly horses and cattle. He spent much of his early years training horses and later turned his interest to raising registered Hereford cattle. He and Elaine owned and operated Neidhardt Hereford Ranch until their retirement in 1975. Their dispersion sale of these premium cattle was ranked in the top 10 in the nation that year. Ted continued to live on the family farm (in the house he was born in) until January 2002. He had been living at the Evergreen Inn in Dickinson until the time of his death.
He was a member of St. John Church, a lifetime member of the American Hereford Association, an inductee of the National Cowboy Hall of Fame, named North Dakota Hereford Man of the Year, and a long-time member of the North Dakota Stockman's Association.
He is survived by his wife, Elaine; five children and step-children, Shirley (Bill) Wiley, Kingston, Wash., Marjorie Nelson, Fargo, Marlin (Maureen), Crawford, Neb., Sharon (Craig) Tetly, Spokane, Wash., and Sandra (Gary) Meyer, Lennox, S.D.; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert, Richardton and Jacob, California; and two sisters, Hattie Morris and Lydia Neidhardt, both of California.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bertha; his son, Robert; and siblings, Katherine, John, Arthur and Hulda.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials to St. John Church. (Spangelo Funeral Home, Hebron)
