Age at death: 91. Former public school music teacher. Daughter of Lula Jane (Leonard) and William R. Loyd. Widow of Floyd "Little" Faul.
"Ellen Loyd Faul, 91, long time resident of the Moransburg community where her parents ran a small store, died Friday January 21, 2011 at the Fleming County Hospital. She was the widow of Floyd ?Little? Faul who died on April 7, 1965. Mrs. Faul was born in Moransburg on July 4, 1919, the daughter of the late William R. and Lula Jane Leonard Loyd. Ellen was descended from early settlers of Mason County where she was born and where she lived her entire life. Ellen was a person of excellence who loved people and enjoyed caring for them. She was a graduate of then Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College, now Eastern Kentucky University, with a major in Music Education. Her teaching career began at Sardis, Minerva and Washington, then Maysville City Schools at First District, Sixth Ward, Woodleigh and Forest Avenue. Later at Jones Elementary where she retired. She also gave private piano lessons and played for many other occasions. The one accomplishment she was the most proud of was teaching Sue Thompson, a blind student , to play the piano and to perform at different occasions. Ellen and her family were members of the Lawrence Creek Christian Church where she served as organist, pianist and choir director. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Maysville Duplicate Bridge Club. Ellen was always loyal to her family and her many friends and was a lifelong Democrat. Ellen?s survivors include her nephew J. R. ?Johnny? Loyd who lived with her and was her caregiver, great nieces and nephews Beverly Butcher, Kim Schraut, Kevin Post, John Richard Post, Tom Post and numerous friends among whom are John Waldren, Phillip Waldren , Doug Waldren, Patricia Hinton and Maggie Sledd. Preceding her in death were three brothers, longtime Mason County Judge John P. Loyd, George C. Loyd and Richard D. Loyd and her cousins Lydia McElfresh Niblack and Grace Griffith, her nieces Doris Loyd Ledendecker and Marjorie Post and her very special friend Bill Waldren. Funeral services for Ellen Faul will be held at the Knox and Brothers Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 22, 2011, at 1:00 PM with Rev. James R. Rawlings officiating. Burial will follow in the Maysville Cemetery..."
