Alfred R. "Al" Stoffel, 77 of Huntington died at 10:57 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He was the owner of Stoffel Decorating Center retiring in 1990. He was a 1946 graduate of Huntington Catholic High School. He was a lifetime member of Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church where he was a member of the parish council. He was a sergeant in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict. He was an avid golfer.He was born on August 18, 1928 in Huntington a son of Jacob and Katherine (Kindler) Stoffel.He was united in marriage to Barbara J. Carr on October 1, 1949 at the Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church.Survivors include his wife: Barbara J. Stoffel of Huntington; two sons: Michael J. Stoffel of Huntington; Kyle J. Stoffel of Huntington; two daughters: Mrs. Rick (Jill) Christman of Huntington; Mrs. Matthew (Jennifer) McCloskey of Huntington; a sister: Dorothy Ecker of Fort Wayne; 8 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild and 1 step grandson.He was preceded in death by three brothers: George, Joseph and William Stoffel and three sisters: Clara Chamberlain, Pauline Haefling, Mary Byrd.Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 8, 2006 from 2:00 - 8:00 PM at the Myers Funeral Home Huntington Chapel with reading of the rosary at 8:00 PM.Services will be held on Monday, January 9, 2006 at 10:00 AM with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 840 Cherry Street, Huntington, IN with Father Ron Rieder officiating.Interment will be at the Mt. Survivors include two sons, Michael J. Stoffel and Kyle J. Stoffel, both of Huntington; two daughters, Jill Christman and Jennifer McCloskey, both of Huntington; a sister, Dorothy Ecker of Fort Wayne; eight grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and one stepgrandson.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, George Stoffel, Joseph Stoffel and William Stoffel; and three sisters, Clara Chamberlain, Pauline Haefling, and Mary Byrd.
Calling is from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel, with recitation of the rosary at 8 p.m. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, with Father Ron Rieder officiating.
Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
