DERRY - BOTTEICHER - Ralph E., 94, Derry, formerly of Johnstown, passed away Dec. 10, 2013, at the home of his granddaughter. Born May 21, 1919, in South Fork, son of Edward and Gustie (Fyock) Botteicher. Preceded in death by parents; loving wife of 68 years, Nellie; sons, Ralph "Butch" Jr. and James Botteicher; granddaughter, Tina Botteicher-Sowers; brother, Harold Botteicher; and daughter-in-law, Marsha Botteicher. Survived loving grandchildren, Karen Botteicher (Kim), Derry; Timothy Botteicher, Derry; and Kevin Botteicher (Melissa), Hollsopple; four stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; six stepgreat-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Robert Botteicher, married to Roberta, Seward, and Meade Botteicher, married to Claudette, Richland; sister, Mildred, married to Ken Myers, Richland; brothers-in-law, Harry and John Buriak, Johnstown; and special daughter-in-law, Ruth Killinger. Ralph was a member of Beulah United Methodist Church. He retired with 35 years of service as a crane operator with Bethlehem Steel Corp. He had 19 years of service with R&J Rug Cleaners. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving from 1940 to 1942 in Saipan. He was a lifetime member of Conemaugh Valley Detachment 287, Marine Corps League, and the Devil Dogs. Friends will be received from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Geisel Funeral Home, Johnstown. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Beulah United Methodist Church, the Rev. Charles Shaffer, officiating. Interment, Mount Hope Cemetery. The family would like to thank Excela Health Hospice for their help and care.
