Ralph Clair Robinson was born on August 18, 1924 in Clearmont, Wyoming to Ralph Roy Robinson and Willey Bethurem Robinson. He grew up and received his education in Clearmont and Buffalo and graduated from Johnson County High School with the class of 1942. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corp and was an instructor pilot for B17 combat pilots for the duration of WWII. He was married to Elogene "Jo" Pierson on March 11, 1955 in Denver, Colorado. After living briefly in Denver and Cheyenne, they moved to Buffalo in 1960, where he worked as an independent real estate broker.
They personally built a cabin near Billy Creek in the Big Horn Mountains in 1968, which became a great source of pride and accomplishment and is still treasured and enjoyed by family. Clair's woodworking talents extended beyond general construction to the fine art of creating countless bowls, clocks, lamps, vases, and furniture, which are cherished by numerous friends and family members.
Clair and Jo traveled extensively in his own planes and later in their RV, visiting many states. They fell in love with Alaska and made over 20 trips there to enjoy its beauty and the excitement of fishing the many coastal waters.
Clair took pride in his work with the Surrena Memorial Foundation, allocating funds toward important causes in Sheridan and Johnson Counties. He was a member of the Anchor Lodge #7, the Sheridan Elks Club, and the International Turtles Association. Additionally, with his pilot experience, he became a flying surveyor, as well as a member of the Wyoming Association of Flying Farmers. As a pilot, he also conducted numerous search and rescue missions in the area.
He is survived by one son, Wayne Robinson and his wife Suzy of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; three step-sons, Craig Conly and his wife Judie Baldwin of Oakland, California, Paul Conly and his wife Maura Adler of Denver, Colorado and Marc Conly and his wife Nancy also of Denver; two grandchildren, Sam Robinson and his wife Chrissy of Dacono, Colorado, and Stephanie Robinson of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; one great-grandson, and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.
