RIDGELY — Norris W. Hayman Sr. of Ridgely died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at Corsica Hills Nursing Home in Centreville. He was 72.
Born Aug. 14, 1933 in Burrsville, he was the eldest son of the late Howard and Alice Blough Hayman. Mr. Hayman was a 1951 graduate of Greensboro High School, and farmed all of his life in the Ridgely area. He also was a truck driver and later began N.W. Hayman Trucking Inc. He was an avid race fan and enjoyed traveling. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren in Denton, a lifetime member of the Ridgely Volunteer Fire Department, Caroline County Farm Bureau and the Easton Moose Lodge 1520 since 1976.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Marlene Hammer Hayman; his two daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Robert Simpson of Ridgley and Margaret “Peggy” and Chris Miles of Felton, Del.; two sons and their wives, Norris Jr. and Shannon Hayman of Greensboro and Doug and Kelly Hayman of Ridgely; nine grandchildren, Allen and Scott Simpson, Bryan, Spencer and Brandon Miles, Kelly and Lucas Hayman, Kesley and Dylan Hayman; two sisters, Ruth Bryant of Hartly, Del. and Patsy Turner of Galena; six brothers, Raymond Hayman, Richard Hayman, Gene Hayman and Eddie Hayman, all of Greensboro, Leroy Hayman of Mobile, Ala. and Lawrence Hayman of Daytona, Fla.; several aunts and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Steward and Gladys McCullen.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 15, at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home P.A., Greensboro, where friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday. Interment will be in Greensboro Cemetery.
