Eash. - Jacob C. Eash was born in Conemaugh Twp., Somerset Co., Pa., Dec. 9, 1828; died Nov. 11, 1911; aged 82 y. 12 m. 2 d. He was married twice; his first wife was Nancy Kaufman and his second Katie Alwine. He leaves to mourn his departure, wife, 8 sons, 4 daughters, 1 sister and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a member of the Kaufman A. M. Church. Services by David Hildebrand of the Brethren Church in English. Text, Job 5:26. In German by L. A Blough.

Jacob's obit only mentions two wives, however, Jacob and Elizabeth (Miller) Eash definitely had a daughter Amanda Jane, and Amanda's birth would have been after Jacob's first wife Nancy died and before he was married to Katie. Elizabeth and Jacob both "remarried" so either they were divorced or else Amanda was born out of wedlock.
