Mrs. Edna L. Miltenberger, 88, Hollsopple RD 2, died Nov. 30, 1982, at Maple Mountain Manor, Berlin, after an extended illness. Born Oct. 8, 1894, in Conemaugh Township, Somerset County, at present site of North Fork Dam, daughter of late John M. and Elizabeth Ann (Shaffer) Kaufman. Mrs. Miltenberger was second oldest of 15 children and the first member to pass away. Preceded in death by husband, Leroy E., who died Feb. 4, 1954; her mother, who expired Jan. 19, 1960; and father, who died July 20, 1963. Survived by these children: Mrs. Charles E. (Theresa) Younkin, Boswell RD 1; Edward, Johnstown RD 4; and Mrs. John R. (Elizabeth) Younkin, Hollsopple RD 2, with whom she resided prior to entering Maple Mountain Manor. Her grandchildren include: John E. Younkin; Mrs. Gary E. (Frances) Blough, Penn Hills; C. Arthur Younkin, Stoystown RD 1; Mrs. John (Marian) Messek, Essex, Conn.; Mrs. Jonathan (Norma Jean) Levy, Eugene, Ore.; Mrs. Thomas (Patricia) Herren, La Mirada, Calif.; and Mrs. Thomas (Deborah) Matera and David and Allen Miltenberger, all of Johnstown RD 4. Her 16 great-grandchildren include: Jeffrey Blough, Apollo; Matthew and Steven Blough, both of Penn Hills; Drew Younkin, Stoystown RD 1; Thomas, Linda, Laura and Kathy Herren, all of La Mirada, Calif.; and Lisa, Brenda, Laura, Tangie, Helen Mary and Allen Miltenberger Jr. and Nathan and Elizabeth Matera, all of Johnstown RD 4. Sister of: Mrs. Harry (Luella) Berkey, Jennerstown; Leon, Boswell RD 2; the Rev. Ralph, Shrewsbury; the Rev. Martin, Delmont; Mrs. Joseph (Mary) Knesche, Mrs. Charles (Katie) Hoffman, Mrs. Harvey (Erma) May, Miss Grace, John, Mrs. Algie (Hazel) Mishler and James, all of Boswell, RD 2; Mrs. Charles (Daisy) Kocher, Johnstown; Harry, Somerset; and Mrs. John (Mildred) Liska, Davidsville. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Miltenberger was a lifelong member of Centennial United Methodist Church and was its second oldest member at the time of her passing. Her life significantly emphasized dedication and service to her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who cared for her parents in their senior years. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary, Inc., 514 Somerset St., Johnstown. Funeral service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Centennial United Methodist Church, near North Fork Dam, the Rev. Donald Beam and the Rev. William Schmeling officiating. Burial, Miltenberger Cemetery, adjacent to Ligonier Pike.
