December 15, 2014 Obit courtesy of D G Bender Funeral services for William Lapp, 70, lifelong area farmer, were held Thursday, May 20, in the Zion American Lutheran Church at 2 p.m. The Reverend Arthur H Schmitt of Eureka officiated. Mr. Lapp passed away suddenly in the Eureka Community Hospital on Friday, May 15. William Lapp was born August 17, 1898, to Johann Lapp and Ausgustina nee Wesch in Eureka, McPherson County. He married Magdalena Bender on November 11, 1919, at Eureka. They lived on the homestead five miles southeast of Eureka. Mr. Lapp was a member of the Zion American Lutheran Church. Survivors are his wife, Magdalena, Eureka; three sons, Herbert W, Lodi, California, Albert W, Arvada, Colorado, and Dr. Maurice, Lafayette, California; one daughter, Mrs. Reuben (Lucille) Preszler, Lodi, California; two brothers, John H Lapp, Yakima, Washington, and John W Lapp, Eureka; three sisters, Mrs. August (Mary) Bender, Mrs. John (Emelia) Opp, Eureka, and Mrs. Henry (Martha) Gross, Jamestown, North Dakota; 13 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Mr. Lapp was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers and one sister. Casket bearers were Arnold Lapp, Milbert Fauth, Reuben Lapp, Orville Knapp, Melroy Job and Reuben Mahlhaff. Interment was made in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery at Eureka, with Straub's in charge of arrangements.
