Mary M. Geibel, 87, formerly of Leeward Drive in Butler went home to be with the Lord on Good Friday at the Butler Memorial Hospital.
Born Aug. 10, 1917, in Butler, she was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Mary Durnak Galison.
She was a homemaker and a mother. Prior to her marriage, Mrs. Geibel had worked for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Assistance and had also worked as the secretary to the registrar at Slippery Rock College.
She was a volunteer for the American Heart Association and a member of the League of Women Voters, as well as the Butler Toastmistresses Club.
Mrs. Geibel was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church in Butler and occasionally attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church of America in Butler.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Thomas and Rebecca Geibel of North Versailles; a daughter, Alison, "Mickey" Bell and her husband, Doug Bell, with whom she had made her home in Butler; a sister, Mrs. Mark (Olla) Sherman of Butler; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred H. Geibel, who died Oct. 22, 1989, and whom she married Oct. 20, 1956.
Also preceding her in death was an infant son, Jon Scott Geibel, who died in 1958; two brothers, John and Michael Galison; and two sisters, Ann Rath and Helen Urnosky.
GEIBEL - Friends of Mary M. Geibel, who died Firday, March 25, 2005, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the GEIBEL FUNERAL HOME, 201 E. Cunningham St. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday from the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Butler, with the Rev. Dr. Curt McDaniel and the Rev. Michael Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Herman.
Memorial donations may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 420 N. Main St., Butler, PA 16001 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
