Frohnapfel, OP Sr. Wilhelmina Frohnapfel, Dominican Sister of Peace, died at Mohun Health Care Center, Columbus, OH on Sunday, October 6, 2013. She was born in St. Joseph Settlement in Proctor, WV on September 11, 1919. Sr. Wilhelmina was preceded in death by her parents Henry and Agatha (Haid) Frohnapfel. She is survived by her sister, Dominican Sister of Peace Agnes Imelda Frohnapfel and will be greatly missed by her family and many friends. Sr. Wilhelmina entered the Novitiate of the former Dominican Sisters of St. Mary of the Springs in Columbus in 1937 and made her Profession of Vows in 1939. She joined the Columbus Diocesan Department of Education as Food Service Director in 1965 and as Director was able to offer reduced prices for milk for children of poor families. When retiring from this position in 1992, she received commendations from the Government Food Program, President Bush, Governor Celeste and Bishop Griffin proclaiming her achievements. Sr. Wilhelmina earned a BS in Health Education from the College of St. Mary of the Springs (now Ohio Dominican University) and an MS from The Ohio State University. All of her teaching years were spent in the Columbus Diocese at St. Mary GS, HS, Lancaster (1939-44, 1962-65); St. Francis HS, Newark (1944-49, 1956-58); St. Thomas HS, Zanesville (1949-51); Holy Trinity HS, Somerset (1951-56); and Newark Catholic HS (1958-62). Sr. Wilhelmina served the congregation as General Treasurer (1974-83) and coordinator of Health Insurance (1992-1999). She was a resident volunteer at the Motherhouse before entering Mohun Health Care Center in 2006. Reception of the Body will take place at the Columbus Motherhouse on Monday, October 7, at 3 p.m. Evening Prayer of Office for the Dead will be held at 4:45 p.m. with viewing continuing until 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be on Tuesday, October 8, at 9 a.m. followed by burial at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
