Memorial services for Richard C. Boespflug, age 64, of Huntsville, TX formerly of Lemmon, SD will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 23, 2010, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lemmon. Deacon Bill Dustmann will officiate with burial at Greenhill Cemetery in Lemmon. Full military honors will be afforded by the Brattvet-Green American Legion Post #66.
Richard Boespflug was born on November 30, 1945 to George and Isabel (Keller) Boespflug in Richardton, North Dakota. When Richard was very you, his family moved to Lemmon, SD.
He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Church and attended St. Mary’s school. He graduated from Lemmon High School. While in school, Richard organized a band; The Sting Rays, and later started another band, Ricky B and the Bops. Members of the band included Richard, Mike Borud and Lyle Peterson. Rick also worked with his uncle, Gene Keller, and helped other area farmers.
He joined the National Guard and later joined the United State Navy. He served in Vietnam in 1968 and 1969 as a River Rat on the Mekong River Delta. Following his honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy, Richard worked for several oil companies in North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana and Texas.
While in North Dakota he met Joan Bollinger, they were married and had one daughter, Lisa. Richard’s work took him to Texas, where he spent the next 25 years of his life. He lived in Huntsville, TX and continued working in the oil industry.
Richard passed away at his home on July, 19, 2010 at the age of 64.
He is survived by his mother, Isabel Boespflug, Lemmon, SD; one daughter and son-in-law Lisa and Brian Bartlett, Steele, ND; three grandchildren, Jamie, Brittney and Jordon Bartlett; one sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Keith Hoffman, Lemmon, SD; one brother and sister-in-law, Leo and Bonita Boespflug, Ranchester, WY; two nephews, Paul Hoffman and Casey Boespflug; and three nieces, Emily, Rebecca and Audrey Boespflug.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Boespflug and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Simon Boespflug, and maternal grandparents, Joe and Katherine Keller.
