Edith E. Croegaert

Lifelong resident of Hooppole and longtime member of St.Mary's Church, Hooppole.
Edith E. Croegaert, 92, of Hooppole passed away on Friday March 30, 2007 at the Hillcrest home Geneseo.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 A.M. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Hooppole. Father Gerard VerHoye will celebrate. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Annawan. Friends may call Sunday from 3-6 P.M. at the Vandemore Funeral Home Ltd. Atkinson, where the rosary will be recited at 2:30 P.M. Memorials may be left to the Edith E. Croegaert Memorial Fund.
Edith was born on October 31, 1914 in Yorktown Township, rural Hooppole the daughter of Albert and Tillie (Leininger) Specht. She was united in marriage to Theophile Croegaert on October 18, 1932 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hooppole. He passed away in 1988.
Edith had been a School Bus driver for the De Vrieze Bus service in Annawan, for many years, she later was the janitor for the Hooppole Grade School until its closure. She was a longtime member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Hooppole, where she served as the sacristan for 73 yrs washing and pressing the altar liens. She was the Past President of the Altar and Rosary society where she served as president several times. She had also been the chairmen for the Luncheons at the church, serving numerous events, and always would see to it the workers were fed. She was past president of the Yorktown Red Cross, and was an election judge for many years in Yorktown Township. She enjoyed decorating eggs, Gardening, flowers and her grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Survivors include 1 son and spouse Dale and Pat Croegaert, Hooppole 3 Grandchildren Karlene (Rod) Decker, Kevin (Chris) Croegaert, and Karna(Curt) Frerichs 7 Great Grandchildren Karyssa and Shannon Decker, Briana Wilkey, Alison and Kenneth Croegaert, Cayson and Keeli Frerichs. 2 sisters Peggy (Wilbur) Moon, Annawan Lucille (Francis) DeDecker, Sheffield She was preceded in death by 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
