PETTIBONE - William ``Bill'' Schick, 84, Pettibone, died July 6, 1997, in a Bismarck hospital. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Pettibone, with burial in Petersville Lutheran Cemetery.
William was born Jan. 27, 1913, at Peterville Township, near Pettibone, the son of Frederick and Magdalena (Martin) Schick. He grew up and attended Petersville Township School. He was confirmed in 1928 at Zion Lutheran Church, Petersville Township. He married Linda Otto, June 20, 1940, at Zion Lutheran Church, Petersville Township. They farmed in Petersville Township until retiring in 1975. He spent 83 years living in Petersville Township. They moved to Pettibone in 1995. Bill was a church elder for 27 years and Petersville Township Clerk for 35 years, AAL treasurer for 15 years, and served on the church finance committee for six years. He was Lutheran Laymens' League secretary for 20 years and treasurer of Our Savior's Lutheran Church for two years. Bill also was president of Kidder County Counsel on Aging from 1990 to 1993, and was still president of the Pettibone Senior Citizens, a position he held for six years. Bill loved hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Linda; two sons and daughters-in-law, Arnold and Carol, Ada, Minn., and Marlin and Della, Bismarck; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Gust and Harriet, Jamestown, and Jake and Bertha, Pettibone; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Edward LeRoy; three sisters, Magdalena Schick, Pauline Schick Guthmiller and Mathilda Schick Walz; and one brother, Frederick. (Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown)
