Raymond Guthmiller
Raymond LeRoy Guthmiller, 61, died May 12, 2008, at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 15, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Pettibone, with the Rev. Howard Lyons officiating. Burial will be in Petersville Cemetery, rural Pettibone.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 7:30 p.m. today at Eddy Funeral Home, Jamestown, with prayer services at 7:30 p.m.
Raymond was born May 31, 1946, in Woodworth, to Rudolph and Freida (Schmidt) Guthmiller. Raymond went to Petersville Country School and Pettibone Public School and continued his education at Valley City State. He then went to work for Whitman's Inc., operating the grain elevator in Lake Williams. Raymond bought the elevator in Pettibone, in 1976, and operated in until it burned in 1984. He then purchased the elevator in Lake Williams, in 1985, and later retired in 1987. Raymond and Loraine Wolf ran the grocery store in Robinson from 1989 to 1994 and went on to run Kozy Kitchen Cafe in Pettibone. Raymond was married to Christi Thompson June 16, 1967. They later divorced in 1987. Raymond spent the remainder of his life with Lorraine Wolf. Raymond was a charter member of Lions Club. He was also mayor of Pettibone and served on the town board for several years. He enjoyed driving around observing nature, looking at his land, watching the crops grow and listening to polka hour.
Raymond is survived by Lorraine Wolf, Pettibone; three sons, Terry and Jennifer (O'Farrell) and Dave and Tiffany (Nagel), all of Bismarck, and Troy and Shonna (Hertz), Mandan; three daughters, Pamala and Tony Larson, Scottsdale, Ariz., Michelle and Bill Lytle, Bismarck, and Melissa and Chad Lundberg, Minot; and nine grandchildren, expecting two new ones. He also is survived by his mother, Freida Guthmiller, Wilton; one brother, Eugene and Charlene, Pettibone; and two sisters, Connie and Todd Schlauffmen, Wilton, and Marlys and Marlin Harr, Pettibone.
He was preceded in death by his father, Rudolph; and his brother, Earl.
