Robert Wayne "Bob" Lamp, 63, Centerville, died at 5:55 p.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at his residence.
He was born Aug. 12, 1945 in Burnt Prairie Township, the son of Robert Edward and Rosalene June (Criteser) Lamp. He married Madeline Joyce Vaupel Aug. 7, 1964. Mr. Lamp was the White County Republican chairman, a water well contractor and division manager at AMF Tuboscope. He loved farming, raised charolais cattle and was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of Stewart Street Baptist Church and Enfield Masonic Lodge 677.
Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Madeline Lamp of Carmi; his mother, Rosalene Lamp of Carmi; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Kevin McArthy of rural Enfield, and Anna and Brooks York of Carmi; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Wayne Jr. "Bobby" and Dawn Lamp, and Marty and Meredith Lamp, all of Carmi; a sister and brother-in-law, Jeanie and Jerry Crawford of Carmi; a brother and sister-in-law, Kenny and Judy Lamp of Carmi; eight grandchildren, Matthew and wife, Courtney McArthy, Amanda McArthy and fiancé', Brad Wehlermann, Adrian, John, Justin and Jason Lamp, and Calvin and Laney York; and a great-grandchild, Mattie McArthy.
A celebration of life service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Stewart Street Baptist Church in Carmi, Brother Donny Mobley, the Revs. Luke Raczykowski and Jonathan Peters, Brother Larry Gwaltney and Carl McVey officiating. Burial will be at Bruce Chapel Cemetery near Carmi. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with Masonic services at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mr. Lamp's name to Tip Hospice in Mt. Carmel, The National Marrow Foundation or the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.
