OBITUARY: Beaver Dam Citizen, Friday, October 22, 2004.
ALLENTON - Claude M. Brost, Allenton, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison at the age of 76 years.
Claude was born on Sept. 12, 1928 in Auburndale, Wis. to Ernest and Florence (Weber) Brost.
Claude was born and raised in the Marshfield area and later moved to Watertown. He entered the Army during the Korean War Conflict and married Delores M. (Smith) Brost on May 30, 1956 at St. Peter's Church of Beaver Dam. The couple remained in Watertown until 1961, and then moved to Allenton, where they raised a family of their own. Claude retired from Petrolane LP Co. after 34 years of dedicated service to the company. He was also the proprietor of Brost Drive-In, Brost Foods, and Brost Heating Inc. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus 1964 and the American Legion Post 483.
Claude is survived by his beloved wife, Delores; two sons, Tom (Bonnie) Brost, Superior, and Jerry (Chris) Brost, Arbor Vitae; one daughter, Joy (Ed) Lachendro, Beaver Dam; five grandchildren, Jill, Candace and Tiffany, and their father, Paul Sauer, and Luke and Ben Lachendro; and seven great-grandchildren. He is further survived by three sisters, Ruth Strohbusch, Watertown, Olive (Don) Fischer, Surprise, Ariz., and Virjean Harstvedt, Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Virginia Brost, Sheldon, Wis., three brothers-in-law, Don (Carolyn) Smith and Virgil (Mae) Smith, both of Beaver Dam, and Ernie (Phyllis) Smith, Palm Harbor, Fla.; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and good friends.
His parents; one daughter, Cindy, and one brother, Norman preceded Claude in death.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held in honor of Claude on Monday, Oct. 25, at 3 p.m. at Resurrection Catholic Church, Allenton. The Rev. Richard C. Breitbach will officiate. A private interment will take place at St. Peter's Cemetery in Beaver Dam on Tuesday, Oct. 26. Visitation will be at the church only on Monday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 3 p.m. Memorials are appreciated in lieu of flowers to the family. The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.
