Birth: Dec. 18, 1925 Marshfield Wood County Wisconsin, USA Death: Jun. 23, 1987 Rusk County Wisconsin, USA Norman Brost, 61, Conrath, WI, owner of Marshal Cheese, died June 23 at Rusk County Memorial Hospital of cancer. He was born Dec 18, 1925 at Marshfield, the son of Ernest and Florence Brost and came to Rusk County in 1952. He and Virginia Aschenbrenner were married on October 7,1950 at Auburndale , WI . Brost made cheese all of his life. His father was a cheesemaker near Marshfield. Coming here from Marshfield in January of 1952, Brost worked as manager of Marshal Coop. In 1967, he purchased the business, now Marshall Cheese. In 1952 it was processing 5,000 pounds of milk a day and now Marshall Cheese processes 200,000 pounds a day. The company does business all over the United States . He enjoyed cheesemaking and meeting with his patrons. Brost belongedto St John 's Catholic Church of Sheldon and the Knights of Columbus. Survivors include his wife, Virginia; his mother, Florence; five sons; Bob of Sheldon, Dave of Butternut, Jim of Conrath, Joe of Conrath and Mark of St Paul; two daughters; Mary Treichel of Marshfield and Cathy BROST of Milwaukee; eleven grandchildren; a brother Claude Brose of Allenton, WI; three sisters; Ruth Stohbusch of Watertown, WI, Olive Fischer of Watertown and Virjean Harsvedt of Santa Rosa Beach, FL. Funeral services were June 25 at St John's Catholic Church in Sheldon with Father Francis PAKOSTA officiating. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sheldon. McElravy-Geier Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
