Bio: James P. Hagen, 80, of Green Lake, formerly of Jackson, passed away at the Markesan Resident Home on Friday, June 18, 2010, at the age of 80.James was born on March 6, 1930, to Jacob and Loretta (nee Gehl) in Hartford. He married Luella Hagen on July 28, 1951, at St. Kilian Catholic Church in Hartford. He served in the Korean War from 1951 to 1953 and was a member of the S./SGT. Henry F. Gumm American Legion Post No. 486 for 56 years. James was a true outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was also an avid coin collector and woodworker.James is survived by his wife, Luella; siblings, Mary Jean Pankratz, Phyllis Ribbons, Joan (Donald) Kastenholz and Donald (Donna) Hagen; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Hagen, Bev Hagen and Karen Hagen. He is further survived by many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.James is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Robert, Thomas and Howard Hagen; and brothers-in-law, Bob Pankratz and John Ribbons.A funeral service for James will be at noon on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at the Phillip Funeral Home Chapel, 1420 W. Paradise Dr. in West Bend with the Rev. Jeffrey Haines presiding. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the American Legion Post No. 486 honorary walk-through at 11:45 a.m. Entombment to follow at Washington County Memorial Park.The Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family. www.phillipfuneralhome.com.The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Markesan Resident Home and the home care nurses for their care and compassion for James.
