Birth: Nov. 20, 1921 Death: Oct. 7, 2008 LEWISTON -- The funeral Mass for Frances M. Ihrke will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston, with the Revs. Marreddy Pothireddy and James Hennessy co-officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Ihrke, 86, formerly of Lewiston, died Tuesday (Oct. 7, 2008) at St. Anne's Extended Care in Winona. She had resided in Winona since 1998. Born Frances Mueller on Nov. 20, 1921, in Oakridge, she graduated from St. Charles High School and attended Teachers Training in Winona. She taught country school in southeastern Minnesota. On Oct. 25, 1944, she married Ellsworth Ihrke in St. Charles. The couple lived in Great Falls, Mont., until her husband's discharge from the Army. They then settled in the Fremont-Lewiston area until moving to Altura for a brief time. They moved to Lewiston in 1972. Mrs. Ihrke provided care for her husband for 25 years; he preceded her in death in December 1986. She was active in the Lewiston community as a 4-H leader and member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the Lions Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, Fremont Sunshine Club, Catholic Daughters, and Ladies Circle. She was a religious education teacher for many years, traveled to many corners of the world, and was an avid card player. In 2007, she was crowned queen of the Winona County Fair. Survivors include seven sons, Tom (Darlene) of Coon Rapids, Minn., Jim (Mary Lou) of Bismarck, N.D., Steve (Pat) of Chicago, Larry of Golden Valley, Minn., Keith (Dora) of Anchorage, Alaska, Paul (Sandy) of Lewiston and Joe (Angel) of Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters, Karen (Gary) Moger of Winona and Mary (Bob) Nakaki of Stockton, Calif.; 31 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry (Vonnie) Mueller of Faribault, Minn.; and a sister, Barb (Chuck) McGuire of La Crescent. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, a daughter, a granddaughter and four brothers. Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, and an hour before the service Monday at the church. A Rosary service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday. Hoff Funeral Home of Lewiston is assisting with arrangements.
