Dow, 91, of Flora, IL died at 8:10 PM Saturday, January 30, 2010 at Country Lane Boarding Home in Flora. She was born January 4, 1919 in Louisville, IL to Frank & Nelle (Krutsinger) Farris. She married Everett S. Dow on July 8, 1945 in Flora. He preceded her in death in 2002. She was a homemaker and retired Clay County school teacher after 27 years. Her memberships included Clay County Retired Teachers Association and Golden United Methodist Church, where she and Everett were active members. Leona enjoyed living at Country Lane. She is survived by two sons: Robert and James Dow; nine grandchildren: Sarah, Cory, Shannon, Jay, Matthew, Kim, Brian, George & Jeremy; six great-grandsons: Landon, Garrett, Lane, Gavin, Carson & Justin; and 1 sister: Jett Mueller. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three sisters (Marie Pohl, Joyce Stanfield & Betty Miller). Funeral services were held at Frank & Bright Funeral Home in Flora with Rev. Doyle Williams officiating. Burial followed in Golden Cemetery, Louisville. Memorials are suggested to the Dode Briscoe Scholarship Fund.
