Ness will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 857 Rolling View Ln. S.E., in Pine Island; the Rev. Tim Graham will officiate. Burial will follow in Pine Island Cemetery. Mrs. Ness, 73, of Pine Island, died Sunday (Nov. 16, 2008) at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester. She was born Lorraine Janice Wegman on July 30, 1935, in New Haven Township, Olmsted County. She attended country school in Olmsted County and graduated from Pine Island High School in 1953. She worked two years as a secretary at Mayo Clinic before going to IBM, where she worked five years. On March 29, 1958, she married Miller Ness in Douglas. The couple lived in Rochester until moving to Pine Island in 1971. Mrs. Ness was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and enjoyed playing cards and board games. She is survived by her husband; three sons, Ross (Carmen) and Ronald (Lynn), both of Pine Island, and Philip (Mary Ann) of Hamilton, Ohio; three daughters, Polly Ness of Pine Island, Monica (John) Diorio of Papillion, Neb., and Marie Ness of Rochester; 17 grandchildren; five brothers, Stanley (Barbara) Wegman of Oronoco, Donald (Gloria) Wegman of Fremont, Neb., Clarence (Marlys) Wegman of Inver Grove Heights, Minn., Jerry (Carol) Wegman of Tampa, Fla., and Wendell Wegman of Minneapolis; and two sisters, Marilyn McCray of Rochester and Barbara (Dennis) Lichtblau of Mazeppa. She was preceded in death by a son, Andrew; her parents, Edwin and Lillian (Tillotson) Wegman; and two sisters, Ramona and Carolyn. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Mahn Family Funeral Home-Mahler Chapel in Pine Island, and an hour before the service Thursday at the church.
