  [S927] Obituary. Thomas L. Listenfelt, 65, of Evansville, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born November 27, 1946, in Plymouth, IN. He graduated from Triton High School in Bourbon, IN in 1965. He received a BS in Music Education from Manchester College in 1969 and an MS in Music Education from the University of Illinois. He was an Instrumental Music Teacher at Middlebury High School for three years. He taught instrumental music for 32 years in the Warrick County School Corporation at Castle High School, Castle Jr. High, Newburgh Elementary, Sharon Elementary and Chandler Elementary Schools. Thomas was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, where he sang in the choir and was a former Church Council member. He was a member of Phi Beta Mu Music Fraternity, the National Education Association, Indiana State Teacher's Association, Warrick County Teacher's Association and NEA-Retired. He was a former member of Bend in the River Brass Band. He was also a member of the Purple Aces Club and was a fan of University of Evansville basketball, the St. Louis Cardinals and Indianapolis Colts. He enjoyed working his Sudoku and crossword puzzles every morning, reading and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Alta Listenfelt; and grandparents, Forist and Hattie Listenfelt and Lyman and Orah Berger. Thomas is survived by his wife of 28 years, Rebecca (Ashby) Listenfelt; sister and brother-in-law, Cindy and Gail Law of Mentone, IN; nephews, Gene Law of Chicago, IL and Quentin (Melissa) Law of Columbus, IN; niece, Corrine (Steve) Knudsen of Fort Collins, CO; great-nephews, Drew and Grayson Law and Josiah Knudsen; great-niece, Sonja Knudsen; mother-in-law, Evelyn Ashby; and many cousins. Services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 21, 2012, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. John Branam, with burial in Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Mary's Medical Center for the care and compassion they showed for Thomas during his recent stays and surgery in the hospital, and also to Thomas' family physician, Dr. Richard Murray, and staff for all the care they gave him over the years.
