OLD RESIDENT DIES AT FORT WAYNE THURSDAY --- Edward Berger, on of the older and well known citizens of the community north of Bremen and a life long resident here, died Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willard Geroux in Fort Wayne, where he had been living for the past year. He was ill only about nine days, nephritis and uraemic [sic] poisoning being the cause of his death. Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Philip Haney, near Ebenezer church, southeast of Bremen. Rev. A. F. Knepp of Bremen was in charge of the funeral service. Burial was in the the Bremen cemetery. Mr. Berger was born in Madison township, St. Joseph county, Jan. 28, 1863. He was married in 1886 to Miss Emma Carbiener, who preceded him in death. Three daughters and two sons were born to them, all of whom survive --- Mrs. Minnie Haney of Bremen, Floyd Berger of Mishawaka, Ralph Berger of Lapaz, Mrs. Sadie France of Van Nuys, California, and Mrs. Ruth Bretz of Lucas, Kansas. he is survived also by one brother and six sisters, as follows: Mrs. Charles Rhoade, Bremen; Mrs. Philip Ewald, Abilene, Kansas; Mrs. Catherine Carbiener, Lucas, Kansas; Mrs. E. Q. Laudeman, Fort Wayne; William Berger, Collyer, Kansas; Mrs. Chris. Eslinger, Bremen; Mrs. J. F. Weiss, Naperville, Ill.
