Smith, "Swede", passed away peacefully Sunday, July 11, 2010 at home with family members by his side. Marvin was born and raised in Lynden, Washington in 1927. He began his journey as a young man fishing in Alaska and tug boating where he met his lifelong companion Martha as she rowed past him flirting in a dingy. It was love at first sight for Marvin and Martha, marrying on December 14, 1945, true love that continued for the next 64 years of marriage. They settled down in the little town of Gig Harbor to raise their family where Marvin went to work for the Peninsula Light Company for the next several years until his retirement. Marvin's most beloved joy in life was his wife Martha and his daughters that filled and completed his days after retirement. Everyone who knew Marvin saw a loving and caring man that devoted his entire life to family and friends. He touched the hearts of all he came into contact whether he spoke a few words or just flashed his captivating smile. Marvin had a profound impact on each and every life he touched. We were truly blessed by God when we were given Marvin as a gift. A gift that will forever be treasured in our hearts.
