Irma J. Harris, 76, of Rockport, W.Va., passed away July 31, 2008, at her home after a 12-year battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born March 21, 1932, in Belmont, W.Va. She was the daughter of the late Gay and Myrtle Shields Wade. She retired from the Wood County Board of Education and was a former member of the Rockport Women's Club. She was a member of the Grace Brethren Church of Parkersburg and liked to collect glassware.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Elmer J. Harris; two daughters, Terry L. Whaley of Belaire, Texas, and Sandra (Paul) Qualls of Midland, Texas; one son, Timothy W. Harris of Parkersburg; one sister, Myrtle L. Caldwell of Marietta; one brother, Gay Wade Jr. of Napa, Idaho; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Noah Wesley. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, 2333 Pike Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Scott Hannus officiating. Burial will follow at the Pond Creek Cemetery in Rockport. The family will receive friends from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
