Description: Married: Newport, Campbell County, Kentucky, USA
Newport is a home rule-class city at the confluence of the Ohio and
Licking rivers in Campbell County, Kentucky. It was for Christopher
Newport, the commander of the first ship to reach Jamestown, Virginia, in
1607. Newport was established as a town on 14 Dec 1795, and incorporated
as a city on 24 Feb 1834. Campbell County was founded 17 Dec 1794, two
years after the creation of the Commonwealth of Kentucky,
Its named in honor of John Campbell, an Irish immigrant who was a
soldier, explorer, statesman and one of the drafters of the Kentucky
Constitution.
So, both the City of Newport & Campbell County predate James E. Hall +
Julia Ann Wiley's marriage in 1915. There has never been a Newport County
in Kentucky.
