Chris. Fischer Died Here Sunday Night
It pleased Almighty God, in His wise providence, to summon out of this life Christian Fischer. He was born November 6, 1870, at Glixdoll, Russia. In the year 1886 he sailed with his parents to America residing at Tripp, South Dakota, until 1894. Before leaving there he was united in wedlock to Kathryn Neiman. They then made their home in Naper, Nebr. In 1910 they moved to Tripp country, South Dakota, near Dog Ear lake, where he resided until the time of his death. Mr. Fischer died Sunday evening, December 17th, 1939, in Winner from a cerebral hemorrhage.
Those that mourn his departure are his wife, and the following children: Ms. Dave Schmidt, Colome, S. D.; Mrs. Adolf Schnabel, Tripp, S. D.; Julius Fischer, Winner, S. D.; Pete Fischer, Colome, S. D.; Otto Fischer, Millboro, S. D.; Mrs. Ralph Peterson, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Leo Quinn, Casper Wyoming; and Mrs. Ernest Koster, Los Angeles, Calif.; 2 brother, one of Herrick, S. D., and the other in Lodi, California; 4 sisters, all of Lodi, Calif.; 24 grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Funeral services were conducted at the home Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, and at the Colome Lutheran church at 2 o'clock. Rev. W. J. Oelhafen, of Winner, S. D., conducted the last rites.
Mr. Fischer was a devout member of the the Lutheran church and a kind and loving husband and father. His departure will be felt by many.
[Note: Glixdoll sounds like Glueckstal, where other family members are from. Glueckstal is one of the Black Sea German colonies near Odessa.]
