Dee was born Dec. 27, 1926, in Minneapolis, to Ruby and Riny Delzer. After graduating from Bismarck High School in 1944, Dee attended the University of North Dakota, where she studied art and music. The family shared Dee's love of music, as her angelic voice could be heard throughout the home on a daily basis.
In 1961, Dee moved to Billings, Mont., with her husband, Terry, and her children. Together, Dee and Terry fished, camped, hunted and explored Montana. The two of them were top competitors in archery and bow hunting. Dee's greatest passion was searching for long forgotten treasures in abandoned homesteads and collecting antique bisque dolls from wherever they could be found. She meticulously restored many heirloom pieces and dressed the dolls with finely stitched garments. Having studied the subject extensively, Dee delighted in sharing her expertise, and later, in gifting her very exquisite collection to family, friends and doll fanciers.
In 1974, the family moved to Denver. Continuing in her life as a homemaker, her abilities abounded, from decorating her home with personally refinished antiques and hand painted artwork, to displays of roses, flowering plants and wildlife that visited her as a gardener of flora and fauna.
Many remember her by the magnetic smile and sparkling eyes that she shared with genuine interest in those she met.
Dee is survived by her loving husband, Terry; her children, Kimothy (Amoy), Hawaii, Kaja (Gordon Burr), Denver, and Kamette (Ron Butterfield) and Kitzen (Laura), both of Montana; her grandchildren, Chandra, Aizlinne, Ahren, Beau, Jessica and Jasmine; her great-grandchildren; her nieces and nephews; and her brothers, Jerry and Dennis, both of Bismarck. These were truly the treasured joy of her life and made her "motherhood" complete.
We will deeply miss her imaginative and generous nature.
Memorials may be made in honor of Dee to any hospice or cancer organization.
"The more I think it over, the more I feel that there is nothing more truly artistic than to love people."
