The obituary of Albert Offenberger Jr. appeared on page 1 of the Zanesville Times Recorder on 12 Sep 1971:
Crash In Fog Fatal
Albert J. (sic) Offenberger Jr., 21, of Waterford Route 2 was killed at
5:45 a.m. Saturday when his automobile careened off Ohio 60 seven
miles north of Beverly and crashed into an embankment during a
dense fog.
He was pronounced dead at the scene by Dr. A. A. Coulson,
Morgan County coroner.
The accident occurred a half-mile north of the Morgan County
line, across the river from the Ohio Power’s Beverly plant.
The State Highway Patrol said Offenberger was southbound,
went left of center and crashed in to the embankment on the other
side of the road.
Born May 20, 1950, at Marietta, Offenberger was a son of Albert
Sr. and Veronica Tornes Offenberger of Waterford Route 2.
Mr. Offenberger was an employe of the Beverly Slag Company.
He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at Beverly and
the Eagles Lodge at McConnelsville. He had attended Waterford
High School.
Surviving in addition to the parents are two brothers, Donald and
Randall, both of Waterford Route 2; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth Schott
of Caldwell and Mrs. Larry McCutcheon of Waterford Route 2.
Friends may call at the McCurdy funeral home in Bevery at any
time where Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today.
