NICOLE BABOUD BAST
Passed away on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. She was the daughter of Marie Begue and Charles Baboud and was the widow of Albert John Bast Jr. (Retired, Army Lieutenant Colonel). They were married for 49 years until his death in 1995.
Nicole Bast accompanied her husband to Army posts in Germany, Japan and France. She was born in Tientsin, China and raised in Shanghai, China. She was educated by the nuns of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Shanghai, China and Lyon, France.
Nicole was a devoted wife and wonderful role model for her six children, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was patriotic and loved her adopted country. Her generosity to those less fortunate was legendary. She was happiest when all her children were happy.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert J. Bast Jr. of Canton, Ohio and the infant great-granddaughter, Miraculous Faith.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Marie France and David Suhre of Bend, Oregon, Carol (Coco) and Bill Cary of Eclipse, Virginia, Albert J. Bast, III and Susie Bast of Ft. Lee, NJ, Diana and Dick Hinman of Powhatan, Virginia, Jacky and Joe Van Cleve of Alexandria, Virginia and Micheline and Michael Kirsch of Rockville, Maryland.
Friends will be received at the Robert A. Pumphrey Funeral Home in Bethesda, MD on Monday, November 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. with Moments of Remembrance at 8:30 p.m. Mass and interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
