Fred M. Hoerner, 86, of Richardton died May 13, 1989, at his home.
The funeral will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 16, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Richardton, with Rev. Brian Wangler officiating.
Special music will be provided by Sylvia Feller, organist and the church choir. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers are his grandchildren.
Fred Hoerner, a son of Michael and Eleanor (Stein) Hoerner, was born Feb 27, 1903, in Speyer, Russia. At the age of 8, he came with his family to the United States where they bought a farm nine miles north of Richardton. He attended elementary school in Richardton and graduated from Taylor High School. In 1928 he became part owner of Richardton Motor Sales.
He married Martha Rummel at St. Mary's Church in Richardton in 1934. In the early 1950's he became the sole owner of the company and changed its name to Hoerner Chevrolet. He retired and sold the business in 1978. Since then, the Hoerners have been spending their winters in Arizona.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus of Richardton, the Dickinson Elks for 50 years, the Germans from Russia Club, a past member of the Eagles Club, the German-Hungarian Club and was a charter member of the Richardton Lions Club. He won numerous awards for salesmanship and service.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Maxine (Mrs. D. Marcus) Borom of Schenectady, N.Y. and Donna, (Mrs. D. James) Kilzer of Denver, Colo.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Emil Hoerner of Richardton and Valentine Hoerner ofDCickinson; and three sisters, Ann (Mrs. Frank) Berger, Richardton, Margaret Rummel, Dickinson, and Nellie Kuch, Richland, Was.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. (Mischel-Olson Chapel, Dickinson)
