Robert A. "Bob" Bender, 70, Bismarck, went home to Glory on January 5, 2005 into the waiting arms of Jesus. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at Faith Lutheran Church, Bismarck, with Pastor Joel Sherer officiating. Burial will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, rural Mandan at 2:00 PM.
Visitation will be from 2:00 to 9:00 PM Sunday at Eastgate Funeral Service and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bob was born September 29, 1934 to John and Loretta (Bettger) Bender. He was raised and educated in McClusky, ND. On July 11, 1957 Bob married Marlene Schadler in Turtle Lake. He served in the active armed forces and reserves from 1957 to 1963.
He was a huge Mopar man and raced cars for many years. Bob loved to hunt and fish and go camping and traveling. He played baseball and softball from an early age and now he is "HOME FREE".
His generosity and caring for others will long be remembered by his customers at Corwin Churchill Motors where he worked for over 30 years.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years and his one and only number one son, Kevin Scott; his brother and sister-in-law, Donald D and Lorna and niece Monica; his sister Marie and brother-in-law Dwaine Helm; nephew Todd Helm (Natalie) and their children, niece Twila (Ron) Beasley and their children. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Martha Schadler at M.S.L.C.C., his brother-in-law Albert Schadler, sister-in-law Betty Carr and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three childhood brothers, his father-in-law Otto Schadler and brother-in-law Cal Carr.
