Clementine "Clem" Agnes Eckroth was born in Mandan, ND, on August 29, 1937, the daughter of Andrew and Anna Eckroth. She grew up and attended school in St. Anthony, ND. She moved to Bismarck and attended St. Mary's High School. Clem married Marcus "Mark" Stein in St. Anthony on November 21, 1956. They raised their six children in Bismarck.
Clem began her career at St. Alexius Medical Center in 1965 and worked there until she retired in 2002. After retiring, she started volunteering as a foster grandparent at Jeannette Myhre Elementary School for ten years. She loved and was loved by the staff and students. Clem was excited to spend the day at school with her foster grandkids. Because of her illness, she wasn't able to volunteer anymore. She missed seeing the staff and students.
Clem enjoyed spending time with Mark, her children, and grandchildren at their lake cabin on Lake Isabel in Dawson, ND. Her grandchildren were an important part of her life. She took the time to care for, play with, and love each one of them. She was a special grandma and will be missed. She looked forward to Thanksgiving every year in Fargo because her children and grandchildren were able to spend the holiday together. Thanksgiving will never be the same without her apple and pumpkin pies. Family and friends were important to Clem and she remained dedicated to both even during her illness. Her smile and positive attitude will be missed.
