Birth: Jan. 13, 1926 Morton County North Dakota, USA Death: Mar. 31, 2011 Bismarck Burleigh County North Dakota, USA Bertha Dieter, 85, died March 31, 2011, at the Baptist Home, Bismarck. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mandan. Burial will be at the Mandan Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Weigel Funeral Home, Mandan, with a parish rosary/vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. Bertha was born Jan. 13, 1926, to Andrew and Anna (Hoffman) Eckroth in Morton County, where she was also raised and educated. She married Francis Dieter on Oct. 22, 1947, in St. Anthony. Outside of her employment at Toman Cleaners for many years, she and Francis enjoyed taking many trips traveling to California. Her perfectionist spirit could be seen in all she did, whether it was in her home-made cooking and baked goods, crocheting or gardening. Bertha's beautiful work as a seamstress was well known and loved by many, which she especially enjoyed making dresses for her nieces. Above all, she was a woman of strong faith, being sure to attend Mass every day. This wonderful woman will be deeply missed by her sisters, Frances Bender, Mandan, Clementine (Mark) Stein and Lucille Bosch, both of Bismarck; and her brothers, Paul Eckroth, Daniel Eckroth and Jack (Louise) Eckroth, both of Mandan. Bertha is preceded in death by her husband, Francis, who passed away in 1996; her parents; three sisters and three brothers.
