David Burkhart
David J. Burkhart, 62, of Marietta died Tuesday, January 1st, at his home in Devola where he resided with his mother. He was born July 19, 1950 in Marietta to James J. and Eloise R. Burkhart. He graduated from Marietta High School in 1968 and from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh in 1970, excelling in graphic arts. He was employed by Westinghouse for 30 years as a graphic artist. In later years he filled his days creating beautiful water colors at his Crows Nest Studio.
He is survived by his mother Eloise, his sons David Case Burkhart, James Burkhart and his wife Kelly of Hilliard and their children Emily, Cameron and Christopher and his daughter Amy Griffith and her husband Kevin of Westerville and their children Taylor and Brody. David is also survived by his sister, Claudia Martin and her husband Mike of Longwood, FL; his aunts Janice Kindelberger of Marietta, Ruth Strickler of Winchester, VA and Anne Rexroad of Columbia, MO and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dear friend Mike Rogers and his family.
Dave was preceded in death by his father, Jim Burkhart in 2002, his paternal and maternal grandparents, and several aunts and uncles. Dave was an incredibly gifted artist whose talents were shared with many and his projects grace their homes today and forever.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday (Jan. 5) at 2:00pm at McClure-Schafer-Lankford Funeral Home with Reverend Don Archer officiating. Burial will follow in Putnam Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday after 2:00 pm with family present from 4- 8. Messages of sympathy may be sent at www.mslfuneralhome.com.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of Washington County or the Devola Volunteer Fire Department.
