Services will be conducted by Monsignor Robert Romero. The interment will take place at Bellevue Memorial Park. Mrs. Childs, age 78 a resident of Opelousas, died Saturday May 2, 2009 at Lakewood Quarters Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. She was a parishioner of St. Landry Catholic Church, a graduate of AIC in Opelousas, belonged to the Life Champions at Opelousas General Hospital and also active in the Opelousas Garden Club and the Douglas Park Garden Club in River Ridge, LA. Survivors include her son; Nathan M. "Scooter" Childs, III and wife Brenda of Metairie, LA., daughters; Pauline Asa Poole and husband Tom Poole of St. Gabriel and Sheri Marie Brinkmann and husband Brian Brinkmann of Roswell, GA., sister; Mrs. Edwin "Red" Mel Cloud of Opelousas, grandchildren; Hunter Germann Brinkmann, Connor Childs Brinkmann, Rory Christ Brinkmann, Elise Golden Brinkmann of Roswell, GA., Asa Marais Poole and Renee Adelle Poole of St. Gabriel, LA. Preceeded in death by her husband Nathan Marion Childs, Jr. and her parents; Howard Joseph Christ and Pauline Bourgeois Christ. Visitation will be on Monday May 4, 2009 at the St. Landry Catholic Church at 1:00pm, funeral services at 2:00pm. Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas is in charge of the arrangements.
