Penicook, 80, of Piper City, IL, died peacefully early Monday morning December 8, 2014 at his beloved farm home north of Piper City. His memorial service will be held Friday, December 26, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the First Presbyterian Church Piper City with the Rev. Wade Ditty officiating. Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church. Jack was born on August 2 , 1934 in LaHogue, IL to W.J. & Marguerite Siela Penicook. He grew up in Piper City, graduating from Piper City High School, and attending Illinois State University for one year before enlisting in the army and deploying to Korea as an MP. Upon his return he married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Flessner and they settled into farming and raising their three children. Jack was also the road commissioner of Pella Township for almost 40 years. He retired from farming in 2002. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, a son John Jr. and a brother Bill. He is survived by his wife Ruth Ann of 57 years, a daughter-in-law Mary Ellen Penicook of LaGrange, IL. A daughter Janice (John) Havins of Houston, TX, a son Brian Penicook of Piper City, a sister Barb Powell of Channahon, IL. and a brother Gordon (Sherry) Penicook of Mahomet, IL. Jack is also survived by nine wonderful grand children: Katie,Charlie, Robby and Tommy Penicook; Whitney, Jake and Rachel Havins; and Traeger and Russell Penicook. And a host of extended family and friends. Jack enjoyed farming and watching things grow; building bridges; his Harley with side car; and driving the Mule with his dog by his side. He loved entertaining at the farmhouse, especially family during the holidays and the grandchildren during the summers.
