Louise Moore, 91, of C'bus used to live here
Louise Moore, 91, of Columbus and formerly of North Vernon, died at Keepsake Village on Monday, August 6, 2012, at 12:10 a.m.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Myers-Reed Chapel in Columbus with Rev. Tom Rust officiating. Burial will follow at Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and one hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Moore was a 1939 graduate of Nashville High School. She and her husband owned and operated Gnaw Bone Grocery until 1959. She worked for Children, Inc., the Columbus Motel and as a private duty children's caregiver. For over 30 years she spent winters in Fort Myers, Florida, fishing, playing euchre, and socializing.
Born in Unionville on May 24, 1921, Mrs. Moore was the daughter of Thomas Franklin Crane and Mary Florence Gilliland. She married Merril Leon Moore on November 22, 1950, in New Unionville and he survives.
In addition to her husband, survivors include her children, Thomas Lee Moore of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jerry Moore of Columbus and Judith Hill of Westport and grandchildren, Quixada "Kiki" Moore-Vissing of Dover, New Hampshire, Christopher Moore-Vissing of Chester, New Hampshire, Matthew Moore of Columbus and Tyler and Justin Hill, both of Westport.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by both parents and siblings, Millard, John Leon, Robert and Helen Crane, Martha Ruggles, Georgiana Kerchner, Dorothy Teague Smoot, Grace Balser and Mary Weber.
