Hendershot died Sunday evening, November 15, 1998, at Columbus Regional Hospital. A resident of that city, he was 57. Mr. Hendershot left surviving relatives in Brown County. Mr. Hendershot was born January 23, 1941, in Columbus to Ival Ray and Luesa E. Brown Hendershot. He and Carolyn J. Daugherty Ward were married August 11, 1975. She survives in Bartholomew County. Mr. Hendershot had worked as a truck driver for XL Trucking in Indianapolis. He was a member of East Columbus United Methodist Church and the Muzzle Loaders Association. Other survivors include two step-sons, Randy Ward and Scott Ward, both of Columbus; two grandchildren, Tyler Ward and Sarah Ward; and a brother, Harvey Hendershot of Bedford. The Reverend Leslie Bearden conducted a service Thursday, November 19, at East Columbus United Methodist Church. Burial was in Brown County's Burkhart Cemetery. Barkes, Inlow and Weaver Funeral Home in Columbus was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Bartholomew County or the American Cancer Society.
