Kenneth (Ike) Lee Eicholtz, Sr., 79, of Frederick, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital with his family by his side.
Born Oct. 11, 1931, in Frederick. Kenneth was a devoted family man. He was a
kind, gentle soul with a great sense of humor.
He attended Frederick High School. Following school, he served his country in
the U.S. Army, 7th Infantry Division during the Korean War.
Kenneth was employed and retired from the Frederick Post Office as a letter carrier for 31 years. After his retirement, he worked part - time for the city of Frederick as a cashier at the Court Street Parking Deck.
He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, serving as an usher for
the church for 45 years.Kenneth was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and the Baltimore Orioles.
He loved going to Ocean City, MD on family vacations. He spent his free time golfing and dancing at the Thurmont Dance Club with his wife, family, and friends. He enjoyed easy listening music; his favorite hymn was Amazing Grace. Kenneth was overjoyed to share his birthday celebration with his son; their birthdays just a day apart. He was a member of the American Legion Post #11, the Elks Lodge #684, the United Fire Company and the Citizens Fire Company.
He was the beloved husband of Grace Yvonne "Boots" (Miller) Eicholtz. They were married for 57 years. Kenneth was the loving father of daughter Carla Yvonne (Eicholtz) Martz, son Kenneth Lee Eicholtz, Jr. and daughter-in-law Melody (Mathews) Eicholtz. He is survived by five granddaughters: Heidi Yvonne Martz, Kara Michelle (Eicholtz) Mirch and husband David Mirch, Holly Mignon Martz, Kasey Marie (Eicholtz) Ramsburg and husband Christopher Ramsburg, and Hilary Renee Martz. He is survived by brother Charlie Eicholtz and sister Catherine (Eicholtz) Dudrow and many other family and friends. Kenneth will be greatly missed by everyone.
He is preceded in death by parents Harry B. Eicholtz, Sr. and Mildred (Shipley)
Eicholtz, brother Harry B. Eicholtz, Jr., sister Dorothy (Eicholtz) Houck and son-in-law Harold Hendrix Martz, Jr.
The family will receive friends at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Thursday, December 23, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m., where services will be held Friday, December 24, at 11:00 am with Rev. Harry Cole officiating.
Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery
