Patricia G. Rubeck
A Funeral Mass for Patricia G. (Sorg) Rubeck, 71, of Newark, will be held at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament, 10:30 A.M., Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Patricia passed at the Kindred Health Care Center on Thursday, June 19, 2014 after a long battle with lung and brain cancer. She was born on December 20, 1942 in Guernsey County to the late Earl L. and Gertrude E. (Zwick) Sorg. She grew up on a dairy farm south of Gratiot, OH on Mt. Perry Road.
Patricia worked many years at The Advocate and retired in 2008 from Kaiser Aluminum, Heath, OH. In 1992 she took a transfer to the Tennalum Division of Kaiser Aluminum in Jackson, TN where she spent ten years. She and her husband, Frank, learned to love the country and bluegrass music of West Tennessee.
She was a graduate of the class of 1960 at Hopewell High School and a graduate of Central Ohio Technical College in 1986 with a degree in accounting.
Patricia is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark A. and Darlene Rubeck of Grove City; her five sisters and their husbands, Shirley (Terry) Cooperrider of Newark, Delores (Jerry) Gibson of Cambridge, Sandy (Dan) Backus of Zanesville, Becky (Rod) Smith of Zanesville, and Michelle (Todd) Rock of Zanesville; and her sisters-in-law, Becky Sorg of Mt. Perry, OH, Maggie Dellenbach Short of Tallahassee, FL, and Helen (Larry) Lightle of Savannah, GA; her brothers-in-law, Leo (Stephanie) Rubeck of Houston, TX, and David Rubeck of Austin, TX, and many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Brad North and his sons Christopher and Tyler, Beth Ledbetter of Grove City, and Ryan and Erica Thornton and their sons Jesse and Trent of Mt. Sterling.
Patricia was married to the love of her life, Frank Rubeck, on October 17, 1964. They celebrated almost 40 years before he passed on August 20, 2004.
In addition to her parents, who passed in 2000, and her husband, Patricia was preceded in death by her brother, Richard E. “Dick” Sorg in July 2012.
Patricia would like to thank her sisters for all their love, visits, and support during her illness. She also thanks her Lite Ladies for their support. The Lite Ladies include Carol Van Winkle, Angie Isgett, Angie Merwin, Molly Overbey, Kathy Kinney and her dearest angel friend, Linda Sturm.
Friends and family may call from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M., Monday, June 23, 2014 at the REED-EGAN FUNERAL HOME, 141 Green Wave Drive, Newark, where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 P.M.
