Glenn Allen Jacob
Glenn Allen Jacob, 56, of Sparta, IL, born July 22, 1950, in East St. Louis, IL, died Thursday, September 14, 2006, at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL. Mr. Jacob was a retired postmaster for Baldwin, IL. He started his postal career at Sparta, IL, and later moved to Marissa, IL, St. Louis, MO, and Belleville, IL, before becoming postmaster of Oakdale, IL, and later, Ellis Grove, IL. Glenn attended Althoff Catholic High School and graduated from O'Fallon High School in 1968. He was a member of the Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps. Mr. Jacob was a former member of St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL. He was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam era veteran, serving as an instructor at Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, MS. Glenn was an avid Harley rider. He was a life member of the Harley Owners Group and a member of Belleville HOG and Backroads ABATE. He was a former member of the Looking Glass Corvette Club. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Jacob. He is survived by his wife, Linda Gail, nee Hall, Jacob, whom he married July 29, 1989;four sons and a daughter, Steven (Leigh) Jacob of Ocala, FL John (Bobbie Jo) Jacob of Guam, Gregory (Lisa) Jacob of Italy, Adrienne Brammer of Italy, and Brian Brammer of Las Vegas, NV; his mother, Rena, nee Robideaux, Jacob of Weslaco, TX; two grandchildren, Alexander Jacob and Zachary Jacob; a brother, Gene (Lillian) Jacob of Houston, TX; aunts, uncles, and cousins; and his close friends, Glen Lemp, Chet Kikla, and Brian Jewell. Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Condolences may be submitted to www.rennerfh.com. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, September 18, 2006, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. Following the visitation, cremation will be held. Mr. Jacob's cremains will be scattered by his family.
