Bio: Mrs. Josephine Jacob. 58, of 226a East Main Street, was killed and her husband, Charles Jacob 61, a molder, was injured at 2:30 o'clock yesterday morning when they were struck by an automobile at 7600 State Street, East St. Louis.Mr. and Mrs. Jacob had spent Saturday evening with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Noah Bloomer, Jr., 7515 State Street, and had walked across the street to board a Belleville bus. Bloomer is the owner of Noah's Ark, a State Street tavern.For some time, Mr. and Mrs. Jacob had been going to East St. Louis every Saturday night to help the Gloomers in the operation of the tavern.Mrs. Jacob was born in Mascoutah June 2, 1885, and was the daughter of the late Adam and Frances Dammerich, nee Boul. Her father was born in Belleville; her mother at Ogle's Station. She married Mr. Jacob, who was employed at the Supreme Foundry, in Belleville.Besides her husband, she is survived by seven children:~ Minerva, wife of Noah Bloomer, Jr.~ Norman Jacob, 17 Orbon Place~ Aurelia, wife of Harold Herbert, 618 Centreville Ave.~ Dolores, wife of John Hunt, 2627 East Main St., East St. Louis.~ Cleo Jacob, 414 North 57th Street, E. St. Louis.~ Fernell, wife of Ben Friday, 538 North 22nd Street, East St. Louis.~ Stanley Jacob, U.S. Army and stationed in Florida.She also leaves 8 grandchildren.Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers:Adam Dammerich, East St. Louis, Ill.Mrs. Fanny Renner, 706 Centerville Ave.Mrs. Anna Poirot, Baden Sta. St. Louis Co.William Dammrich, 314 South Church St.Mrs. Ida Gettler, Pine Lawn, Mo.Three brothers [Louis, Samuel & George] and a sister [?] preceded her in death.Funeral will be held at 1:45 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from Pete Gaerdner Funeral Home to St. Peter's Cathedral at 2 o'clock. Msgr. Joseph M. Mueller, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
