Lloyd Bender, 63, Bismarck, beloved husband and father, lost his battle with cancer on November 23, 2014, at CHI St. Alexius Health, Bismarck.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am Wednesday, November 26, at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 801 E Denver Ave, Bismarck, with Rev. Lester Wolfgram officiating.
Burial will be held at 12:00 noon Wednesday at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm Tuesday, November 25, at Parkway Funeral Service, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck, where a prayer service will begin at 6:00 pm.
Lloyd was born on December 23, 1950, in Streeter, ND, to Art and Esther Bender. He attended Streeter Public School and graduated in 1969. After graduating from high school, he attended Molar Barber College in Fargo, graduating in 1970. In 1970, Lloyd enlisted in the USAF and proudly served his country from 1970-1974.
Lloyd married Marlinda Buchfink in Streeter on November 1, 1970. The next four years were spent traveling to USAF bases where Lloyd was stationed which included: Illinois, England, and Wyoming. Lloyd was a kind and fun loving man. He enjoyed boating with friends and family, and being an early riser, his morning drives. The Jetty was a favorite! He also enjoyed horseshoes, bonfires, and grilling. Work and his family were a priority to Lloyd and he always made sure his family was taken care of. Lloyd, we love you and will miss you forever.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 44 years, Marlinda; his son, Shawn; his mother and father, Esther and Art Bender, Washburn; his one brother, Lawrence (Nicole), Bismarck; and his one sister, LeAnn (Rick) Richard, Washburn.
