Waterloo: PHILIP R. ELLERT, 80 of Waterloo went to be with his Lord Monday August 15, 2011 at DeKalb Health in Auburn.
He was born June 2, 1931 in Waterloo to the late Raymond J. and Esther M. (Hoffelder) Ellert. He was a 1949 graduate of Ashley High School. He was a member of St Michaels Catholic Church in Waterloo and the Knights of Columbus of Garrett. He loved to square and round dance. Philip was a farm mechanic working for Covell Implement in Angola, Interstate Farm Equipment in Ashley and Larry Jacks Repair in Pleasant Lake before retiring in 2010.
He married Margaret Redmon on September 6, 1952 in St. Michaels Catholic Church and she survives. He is also survived by 3 sons of Waterloo and Fort Wayne; 3 daughters; a brother, Francis (Alice) Ellert of Garrett; a sister, Ann (Richard) Penland of Auburn; 11 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson Jeremy Ellert and a great granddaughter, Kaylee Phillips.
A mass of Christian burial will be 11 AM Saturday, August 20, 2011 at St Michaels Catholic Church in Waterloo with Father David Carkenord officiating. Burial in St Michaels Catholic Cemetery, Waterloo. Calling is Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home and also 1 hour prior to the mass at the church Saturday from 10 to 11 AM.
