Funeral services for Mrs. Vivian Marie LeBeau Baillio, will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, May 28th, 2007 at Lafond Ardoin Funeral home chapel. The interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas.
Mrs. Baillio was born May 18, 1919[. She] died at St. James Place in Baton Rouge Friday, May 25th, 2007. She grew up on a farm in Point Coupee Parish. She graduated from Poydras High School and LSU with a B.A. degree in French and Social Studies. Shortly after graduating from LSU, she met William Kaffie Baillio. They were married in 1941 and moved to San Diego where Kaffie was stationed in the Navy during WWII. After the war, they returned to Louisiana, where she taught History and French in the St. Landry Parish school system for many years. After retirement, she enjoyed gardening, cooking, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. She also undertook a major volunteer project of translating from French to English, the original Opelousas Masonic Humble Cottage Lodge by-laws written in 1820.
A long time resident of Opelousas, she moved to Baton Rouge in 2002. She was a member of Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Opelousas. She was a beloved wife, mother and a grandmother.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, William Kaffie Baillio, two daughters; Cynthia and her husband John Hartgerink, Annette and her husband Harry Wallfisch, a son; Tom Baillio and his wife Sheila, four grandchildren; Ben and Sara Wallfisch and Nick and Andre Baillio, two sisters; Mabel Deville and Genevieve Jordan and a brother; Joseph Hazael Lebeau Jr.
She was preceded in death by her parents Joseph Hazael and Elonise Guillaume LeBeau, two brothers; Francis LeBeau and Elton LeBeau and two sisters; Thelma Chustz and Gladys Dabadie.
The family would like to express their thanks to the staff of St. James Place and to Bea LaFleur and Ginnie Barden of St. Joseph Hospice for their care during Vivian's illness.
The family requests that donations may be made in Vivian's memory to St. Joseph Hospice, 8925 Bluebonnet Blvd, Baton Rouge La 70810 or to Our Lady Queen of Angels Catholic church in Opelousas La. or to a charity of your choice.
Visitation will be on Monday, May 28th, 2007 from 12:00PM (Noon) until time of service.
