Kathrena Fischer Hausauer was born in Russia on Aug. 28, 1853. It was in Russia that Kathrena married Frederick Hausauer.
It was also in Russia where Kathrena and Frederick had their first child, Caroline. Caroline was born on February 7, 1889.
In 1890, when Caroline was just a year old, the Hausauers immigrated to American and settled in Marion, Turner County, South Dakota.
In Marion four more children were born to Kathrena and Frederick. First was Lydia; then a daughter who died in infancy; next was Frederick, Jr.; and last was Emma.
Caroline, their first born, married Peter Reding and they had four children. While in church on Palm Sunday, April 14, 1949, a gas explosion ripped through the church, destroying the building, taking the lives of six parishioners and injuring nearly 60 others. Caroline was among the six who were killed in the gas explosion.
Lydia married Fred Thomas. They were parents of two daughters. Lydia and Fred eventually moved to Detroit, Michigan.
Frederick, jr., the only son, married and spent his adult life in East Grand Forks, Minnesota. They had several children.
Emma married Louis Bannworth. They resided in Texas for several years. After Louis' death, Emma moved to Detroit. In Detroit she met and married Einar Anderson.
Kathrena, the mother, passed away on May 25, 1919. Sometime after Kathrena's death, Fred married Christina Bentz.
Fred, who was born November 22, 1857, died on December 29, 1927.
