Obituary of Franziska Edick
Franziska Schreiber Edick
Born June 30, 1935 to Franz and Paula Schreiber in Fischbach bei Dahn Germany. Departed this world August 12, 2015, for a long awaited reunion with her parents.
As a child, Frances endured the hardships of WWII with strength and an indomitable spirit, which sustained her all her life. Frances met her husband John while he was stationed at Fischbach Army Depot. They married in Fischbach on May 24, 1958. Following the birth of their first son, Roy, they sailed to the U.S., which was just the beginning of the travelling they did during John's Army career. Following the birth of their daughter, Linda and a move to Texas in 1962, Frances became a U.S. Citizen, of which she was very proud. She kept her German accent and the love for her homeland, but she was a true American. Her English language skills were impeccable.
There were several more posts and moves to follow, France, Alabama, Germany, where their son Michael was born, back to the states and back again to Germany. In 1976 they were transferred to Ft. Lewis in Washington state, they purchased a home in nearby University Place, where they have lived ever since.
Frances was a devoted wife, mother, an amazing seamstress, talented knitter and her cooking skills could not be beat!
She is survived by her husband John, children Roy Edick (Kathy), Linda Mount (Bob) and Michael Edick (Christi), grandchildren Brian, Andy, John and William Edick, and Danielle, Jacqueline and Christopher Mount, all of Washington state. Her brother Julius Schreiber and sister Gudrun Helbling of Germany, also survive her. She will be sorely missed.
Deepest, heartfelt thanks to Kathy and Rex Niblack of Crestview Place for the tender care they provided, to Advanced Healthcare (especially, Shereen), University Place CC, Madigan Army Hospital and to Nicole of Franciscan Hospice.
