- [S8] Information from an informant - Auskunft eines Informanten - Information d'un informateur.
Comments: Hello. I am Ralph Taylor great grandson of Anton Gerke and a cousin of Roy Gerke who recently contacted you.
Roy sent me a link to the Birkenhordt project. Thanks for all your work. I have collected genealogy of some of our family in the US back. My information started with Anton and the last contact our family had with anyone in the family in Germany was 1946/1947 with a Joseph Gerke in Pfarrviker I.R., Castrop-RaxwelL.1. He wrote our great Uncle he was the son of his Uncle Joseph of Frielingshausen which would imply Joseph was the brother of Anton. I/we had thought our family came from the state of Westfalen. That coupled from my trips to Germany when in Stuttgart I could find no Gerke listing and when in Duseldorf there were pages of Gerkes.
Not to bore with to much details my grandfather Wlliam Henry Gerke (I83170) b. 1879 has a reference to his father that with reasonable certainty is wrong. His father was Anton Gerke. Also it shows William married to Elizabeth Frankin and here the name is spelled Franken. I do not know if there is a difference in the spelling or if that is an error. Also Anna Marie Gerke (I61870) is a daughter of this William Henry Gerke and I am reasonably certain she was born in the Clear Creek area of Missouri. She is also buried in SS Peter & Paul Cemetery, in Boonville, MO Cooper county same as her father and mother as is her husband.
My Mother, daughter of William Henry Gerke, was Florence Lucy Gerke Taylor b 11 Apr 1915 d 31 Jan 2003 and was Married to Ralph Taylor b 19 Mar 1911 d 15 Jan 1978. Both are buried in Walnut Grove Cemetery in Boonville, MO Cooper County.
Do you have any information or idea about how to determine Anton's parents? If you would like I can send you the rest of Anton's children list.
